I cannot find anything unusual in my Firefox Add Ons. I also cannot find anything on the web regarding any KeyBar version newer than v1. My anti-virus found "not. It does not and has not appeared in my Explorer browser. The weird thing is I picked it up on a well-known website that tracks meteorological events. I clicked on a vid of a fireball, got a message to update a non-Microsoft video program that I have set as my default , and knew immediately that I had done a bad thing.

I feel a bit like an idiot for how long it took me to find this and how much barking up the wrong tree I did but I guess we are all learning new things all the time.

So you're saying that with Default Tab installed, you couldn't uninstall Bing? Or your homepage wouldn't change? It was blocked because of an install problem. It was not blocked because of its functionality. If you believe that Default Tab has a specific problem that is impacting users, you should open a bug for that.

Default Tab is installed as part of third party installers and a user has to confirm it's installation as it does any other third party add-on. Hi mkaply. I attach a screenshot of what I was seeing. If that search box was my homepage then I suppose the answer is that my homepage wouldn't change. In any event, it had me fooled and I thought Bing had been made my default search engine and I'm hoping I can spare some other people all the hassle this caused me - much of which was related to trying the various fixes that people were suggesting including uninstalling and re-installing FireFox.

And yes, I am going to be more careful about disabling the installation of third party add-ons in the future. Thanks for your input here. Sorry this confused you. Default Tab has been changed so you have to confirm the add-on when it is installed. I installed it and it wanted me to install other programs such as flash player; ok, I know flash player very well but when I was directed to the site and downloaded it my virus protector went haywire. Then it took forever to get rid of bing when I opened a new tab.
