They stop supporting the hardware the instant you open the box. Beyond the drivers, any software they ship with their hardware is invasive and complete crap. I still have Logitech speakers, but that's only because speakers don't need drivers.
I've stopped buying Logitech hardware a long time ago. I love Logitech mice and headsets, but I have to agree about their QuickCam software. Although it never "hosed" my systems, it did crash a bit and seemed sluggish most of the time. I also suggest installing the drivers alone. I just downloaded the vista 64 bit software and ran it.
That is what the directions on logitech said to do for windows Regarding their products I do like them, though I agree they are lazy when it comes to releasing drivers on time, I have Logitech's speakers and their Pro Quickcam which is in my opinion the best webcam in the market right now and I'm very satisfied with both products.
They seem to be the most reliable on the market. I think I recall installing Logitech webcam software some years ago, and had a theory it was doing some weird crap to Windows. Items in the start menu would appear blank or missing search, run, help etc.
Haven't used a webcam since and the problem never came back. Yeah, I've had nothing but trouble with Logitech in the past on my machine and have been asked to help troubleshoot with a lot of my friend's computers as well.
I don't know what that software does, but it doesn't do anything good I've never tried their mice or keyboards, so I can't vouch for or deny that. I'm glad that they can build something decent though. With the web cams though, it appears to be mostly the software in my experience.
The camera itself isn't bad, but there are issues with the software. They go out of their way to include all sorts of glitz in their applications, but the issues don't seem to ever go away.
