Charlie99 Contributor. V-Planner is a dual phase bubble model program. I had heard of GAP and V-Planner before but have used neither, so any advice on either of these or any other software that other divers could recommend would be well apreciated.

The Bubble models and similar deep stop profiles, have become the standard for technical and deep diving, with many training agencies including bubble models into their courses. The VPM bubble model uses math to simulate and measure micro bubble growth, and set limits accordingly. The output of a bubble model is similar to many established deep practices such as Pyle Stops, Florida cave practices, DIR, ratio deco plans and others.
In VPM, ascent ceilings are determined on allowable gradients for bubble formation rather than M-values. The log serves purposes both related to safety and personal records. Information in a log may contain the date, time and location, the profile of the dive, equipment used, air usage, above and below water conditions, including temperature, current, wind and waves, general comments, and verification by the buddy, instructor or supervisor.
In case of a diving accident, it can provide valuable data regarding diver's previous experience, as well as the other factors that might have led to the accident itself. Recreational divers are generally advised to keep a logbook as a record, while professional divers may be legally obliged to maintain a logbook which is up to date and complete in its records.
